The Lab investigates biological features of viruses, circulating in the environment, which are pathogenic for humans; designs innovative methods for identification of viruses in water and food; performs molecular-epidemiologic studies on gene- and serotypes of enteroviruses, circulating in the territory of Belarus; studies the role of viral agents in heart and vessels diseases. The assessment criteria for drinking water quality in terms of its viral safety are worked out. One of the applied investigations is elaboration and experimental production of test-systems for diagnosis of enteroviral human infections and detection of its agents in water. The lab specialists use modern technologies of reproduction of human and animal cell culture for biotechnological, control, and testing investigations.
